A Saree Chosen with Love, Before Her Baby Was Born
Some sarees are chosen for an occasion.
Some are chosen because of their colour or design.
And then there are sarees that become a part of a family's story.
This is the story of the Tashvika Saree.
For many of us, certain traditional occasions are closely associated with sarees—whether it is a wedding, engagement, or Seemantha (baby shower). There is also a beautiful tradition in many families of choosing green for such occasions. The reason behind this tradition may vary from family to family, but the colour continues to hold a special place in many celebrations.
For today's Sunday Saree Story, Thoshiba shares the story of the saree she chose for her Seemantha.
A Saree Chosen for Her Little One
Thoshiba wanted a special green saree for her Seemantha. But she wasn't simply looking for any green saree.
She and her husband searched together, looking for something that felt truly special and beautiful. During their search, they visited a famous Karnataka silk saree centre, hoping to find something that would feel perfect for the occasion.
After searching through the collections, she finally found the one.
It was love at first sight.
The saree itself was meant to tell the story. She didn't want an elaborate designer blouse or heavy styling to take away from the saree. Instead, she wanted the saree to remain the centre of her Seemantha look.
A Little Detail with a Big Meaning
She added a tiny baby-feet design to the waist belt—a small detail that beautifully represented the occasion and the little life she was waiting to welcome.
She also wanted to include a meaningful symbol that represented her hopes and blessings for her baby.
But the most special part of the story came when she gave the saree its own name.
Why “Tashvika Saree”?
Thoshiba lovingly named the saree “Tashvika Saree,” after her daughter Tashvika.
What makes this even more beautiful is that the saree was bought before her daughter was born.
Imagine being able to tell your child one day:
“This is the saree I bought for my Seemantha, even before you were born. I chose it thinking of you.”
That transforms the saree from a beautiful piece of clothing into a little piece of family history.
The saree carries the memories of the search, the excitement of the Seemantha, the anticipation of meeting her baby, and now, her daughter's name.
More Than Just a Saree
A saree may spend most of its life folded inside a wardrobe, but the memories attached to it never stay folded.
Every time Thoshiba looks at her Tashvika Saree, it can take her back to that beautiful chapter of her life—the time when she was waiting to meet her little one.
And someday, when Tashvika is old enough to understand the story, this saree can become a memory that mother and daughter share.
